Writing a blog in under an hour is like driving from New York to Los Angeles in a day. It’s difficult, but it’s still possible.

If you scroll through your LinkedIn feed, sometimes you see people publishing great articles. This makes you wonder what’s the secret behind an amazing article. But fear not, for I am with you! I’ve compiled a list of tips that will help you write a blog post in under an hour.

  1. Identify your passion

Your first step is to make sure that the topic is interesting and unique — babies, kittens or even ice cream!

You don’t want to talk about what someone else is already talking about. It’s all about authenticity — your readers can sense when someone is selling them something they don’t really believe in or care about themselves.

Sometimes, even if the topic of interest has been written before, you can still write about it. Having your own unique style of writing and mixing it up with your thoughts adds it’s own charisma!

2. Plan ahead

Give it few days. Let the topic brew in your mind. Envision how you would like the article to appear to the readers. This gives you a clear picture of the outline of your idea. Once you’re satisfied with your envisioning, move to the next step.

3. Create an outline

Once you’ve found something that works for you, outline what your points are going to be before you start writing anything down. This might change a bit later when you’re expanding on the idea. But mostly it’ll help to define the boundaries for your thoughts giving it a proper shape.

4. Pour out your thoughts

Once you’ve got your outline ready, write out each paragraph as quickly as possible so that it doesn’t take too long for each one. This shouldn’t take long as your brain formulated a lot of ideas while creating the outline and this is just an expansion of those ideas.

5. Punctuation & Spell check

After finishing up, go through the post once more and make sure everything is spelled correctly, punctuated properly, and formatted correctly (if necessary). This can take longer than just writing everything out quickly because sometimes it’s hard to see mistakes when we’re just staring at them for so long!

Personally sometimes I ask some of my friends to do it for me, since I trust their language skills. It also gives me a dry run before the actual release.

6. Decorate it with visuals

Add some relevant/fun images. Make sure they’re not copyrighted; if they are copyrighted by someone else, make sure they give permission for their use in your blog post before including them in it!

Don’t overload it with images. Unless you want to communicate using images only. One of my previous blog is build using images only.

7. Publish

The last step is actually posting the blog on social media or wherever else people will read it! Make sure that the title of your post grabs their attention enough so they’ll want to read more. Share it with your family, friends or colleagues to get more genuine audience.
